Should Vaccination be made compulsory for all children?
Vaccinations are one of the most important tools of primary prevention. Since the invention of vaccines for the major diseases that were making most of the newly born child either handicap or leading them to death. Vaccination and its mandating is the warm topic for an argument among the designated people of every nation. No country is able to decide a policy that could extended a positive hand towards compulsory vaccination. Every vaccines which is introduced to fight a particular disease is a step forward to achieve the ultimate goal of Global health. At the same time the medical experts with their modern knowledge believe vaccination should be a human right and not the duty. These norms by the experts are based upon their theories and results obtained in past but the public research clearly show that compulsory vaccination is the best way to deal with people’s health.
Vaccination has proved to be one of the best method to protect a child from dangerous diseases. Getting vaccinated is always better than getting diseases. Most childhood vaccines are 90% to 99% effective in preventing life threatening diseases as stated by The American Academy of Pediatrics in 2014. The vaccination of a single child not only protects him/her but also helps in building a safer environment for others. It is believed that one should remain prepared for the circumstances caused by life and Vaccination prevents the harsh circumstance of getting deadly diseases in the future. A child is vulnerable to certain diseases which may cause long term effect leading their health at stake. Every person possess an immunity power to fight against the diseases and harmful viruses but in an infant who remains in her mother's body for a  long period does not obtain immunity to widespread diseases therefore it is necessary that a newly born baby is injected with immunity for their better and healthier future.\
The success of vaccines are far more clear. Without any question, Vaccination  decreases the infant mortality rate and also morbidity. The above study was carried out in several rural and industrial regions. The results obtained were as expected by the public organizations. Each and every public health organizations believe that by ensuring compulsory immunization our complete society will remain protected from many deadly diseases. There is a simple idea that can prove the importance of mandatory vaccination which says that “ Vaccinated children are less prone to diseases than the the other kids”. A survey was carried out by the Indian Health Society in 2003 to check the Vaccination and its effectiveness in a small village. Every person in the community was vaccinated against the major diseases and their standard of living was also monitored. After five years when they were again put to the same survey or test, It came out that their standard of living was considerably increased and they were more healthier than the fellow villagers in the neighbour. This is a simple and more effective way by which we can prove that Immunization is directly proportional to the standard of living of the people. Not only the person as a whole is benefitted but the whole community achieves prosperity through the programmes of immunization.
There are always two faces of the coin and the same goes with the mandatory vaccination. Besides the large list of advantages offered by the immunization there are certain drawbacks it posses. Many doctors based on the modern medical knowledge and research believe that we have have our immune system to fight against infections and our children have the right to obtain diseases. They believe that there is always a natural remedy for diseases and our body needs to obtain such viruses so that it can develop immunity against them for further protection. Doctors and their belief should never be neglected to which everybody of us should agree. In order to fully isolate the benefits and drawbacks of vaccines, the cost of the process must be outlined and assessed. There are multiple cost associated with vaccination and the most influential among them is the adverse side effects. In some cases vaccination may lead to overload of immunity especially in children which leads to mental retardation and even death. It is often augmented that compulsory vaccination violates civil rights of the people in a democracy. However this will protect the population from the spread of diseases.
Vaccines are one of the most important and admired medical tools ever invented. It has brought some of the momentous changes in the life and health of the people by bringing a decrease in deadly diseases like polio, smallpox and measles. The most important reason that the human kind is closer to eradication of such diseases is the proper and mandatory implementation of vaccines across the globe. To justify compulsory vaccination in a positive way there are two major areas. First is the the protection of large number of children from dangerous diseases and dramatic decrease in infant mortality rate all across the globe. The final one is the safekeeping of the overall society for the longer lives of the people in it. Every parent should ensure that their child is vaccinated for the ultimate goal of Health for all. Dr. Kalam once said that “ Vaccine your childs and one fine day, Doctors would be your past “.
